hi
Most of us dont know where and how to start the preparation for Nbde part 1 .People like me , who graduated in 2006 from India ,had forgotten most of 1st and 2 nd year of dental school , I had to start from the begining .When I appeared for the exam first time , I had read only Kaplan review book and did Decks only once ,result I had to take my exam again .I had to clear my basics before reappearing for the exam , Kaplan offers a review book only , which personally I didnt like it but I know lot of my friends had liked it and are in dental school now .I for some reason wanted to go back to textbooks atleast once but unfortunately I cudnt bring my old textbooks with me from India .Some how I managed to get hold of few books and reappeared for the exam . I want to share with everyone about my study plan .... so here it goes
wheather you are working , studying for some other course or parenting , we all need to have one thing in mind is there is no shortcut to success EVERYBODY HAS TO STRUGGLE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER TO ACHIEVE WHAT THEY WANT .....
1. Start with the subject of your choice , you can read from which ever textbooks or review books you like , i started with dental ,,, i followed orbans , okeson , wheelers ,consice dental anatomy ,decks and asda papers .Take your time to be thorough with what you have study , just dont do mechnical studied , it will lead you no where .Always revise , its the key to success .
2. Likewise do all the subjects thoroughly , make notes whenever needed , as this will be great help before your exam .
3.One subject might take 1 month another might take 3 months , dont worry , clear your doubts and keep going but always have the dealines of your prefred schools in your mind .
4.I might take 1 year to study another person might take 3 months to study , it all depends on the situtations you try to study in . So dont bother about others , do your job first .
5.I would suggest that before you schedule your exam , please take 1 mock exam , to see where you stand .You might need somemore prep time or you might be just ready for the exam .
6.Methodology........................... Study from textbooks or KRB >DECKS >SELF NOTES>ASDA PAPERS >MCQs as many as possible like GARD /RUDMAN >LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST MOCK EXAM LIKE CRACK THE NBDE .
7.Study max for 6 to 8 hours not more than that , dont stress out yourself .
HAPPY STUDYING
I will be writting more about the textbooks i used ,,,,later
